Our very own range of Badger Beers are only sold in Hall & Woodhouse pubs, so we can guarantee the very best quality cask and bottled ales brewed right in the heart of the Dorset countryside. Alongside our beers we also have a comprehensive selection of lagers and ciders, together with a quality wine list, with wines from all around the World and an ever increasing range of spirits, particularly local and regional gins.

Badger Beer

It was deep in Dorset’s rolling hills and patchwork fields, in 1777, that local farmer Charles Hall brewed our first beer. A union of the Hall & Woodhouse families soon followed and the story of Badger beer had begun.

To create the distinctive character of our delicious Badger beers, we combine hops and malted barley with pure spring water which has been filtered naturally through the Cretaceous chalk downs of Dorset. Our comprehensive range of cask and bottled beers, all with distinctive characters, are available throughout the year, although our offering does vary seasonally.

Gin is, at its simplest, a spirit flavoured with a variety of botanicals, with the predominant flavour being juniper which has been used for more than 1,000 years as a medicine to treat rheumatism, arthritis and gout. Each gin has its own unique balance of botanicals creating a varied range of flavours. We’ve selected a wide range of great gins for your next visit and whilst our gin range may vary throughout the year, rest assured they’ll always be plenty of choice and you’re guaranteed to find one to your taste.

Bombay Sapphire – 40% ABV

Bombay Sapphire's name derives from gin's popularity during the British Raj in India and was developed to create a differentiated brand from the more traditional British London Dry Gins. Bombay Sapphire is triple distilled and features 10 botanicals.

Gordon's – 40% ABV

Gordon's Gin was conceived by Scotsman Alexander Gordon in 1769 and was produced in Southwark (London) before moving to Clerkenwell and now Basildon in Essex. Gordon's Gin is triple distilled and uses a combination of botanicals that has been kept secret for almost 250 years.

Hendrick’s – 41.4% ABV

Launched in 1999, Hendrick's is a popular and widely available Scottish gin. It is notable for its use of rose petals and cucumber alongside traditional botanicals and for blending two separate spirits - one created in a small pot still and another in a carter-head still in order to extract the different flavours of the different botanicals.

Pinkster – 37.5% ABV

The Gin Guide Awards 2017 - 'Contemporary Gin' Winner

Pinkster Gin was launched in 2013 and is distilled by G&J Greenall's with 5 botanicals, before steeping fresh, locally grown raspberries and 2 further botanicals. The raspberries are then recycled and sold as 'Boozy Berries' in farm shops. Pinkster Gin was developed by Stephen Marsh after much experimentation with different fruits, and Stephen swiftly gave up his job as a Finance Director to work on Pinkster full time.

Sipsmith – 41.6% ABV

The Sipsmith distillery is based in West London and boasts the first copper pot still to be installed and used in London for 200 years at the time (which they named Prudence). It's the distillery that helped spearhead the London gin revival with its dry, zesty London Dry gin that's increasingly popular in pubs and bars across the country.

Tanqueray – 43.1% ABV

Tanqueray Gin has a long and fascinating history and is in the top 10 highest selling gins in the world. Charles Tanqueray opened the original distillery in the 1830's in London, which was later destroyed by air raids during WWII and production now takes place in Scotland. The recipe (with just 4 botanicals) has been kept a secret and the same recipe has been used since the gin's conception.
